To New Beginnings!
One Wednesday morning while going through the weekly ‘Telekids’, my eyes stopped at one particular poem, written by a kid nearly of the same age as mine. It was so well written that I kept reading it again and again till my own thoughts had synced with its rhyme and rhythm! That is when I realised how poetry fascinates me, and decided to start composing poetry myself.
The next week’s theme was ‘If I were a Superhero’, and I had made up my mind to compose and submit my first ever poem on that theme. Without wasting another moment, I started working on it right away. After hours of brainstorming, scribbling and editing, by the end of the day, I had my first poem ready in front of me. As an eight-year-old, I was very satisfied with my composition, and couldn’t wait to show it to my father as soon as he returned home from work! After reading my poem, my father was visibly pleased, and had promised to send it to the editor for me. My excitement knew no bounds! I eagerly waited for the next week’s Telekids to see if my poem had been selected.
But amongst other works and important deadlines, this little promise had slipped my father’s mind. My poem was never submitted. I was upset about it for a long time, even mad at my father for not keeping his word. But I’ve never given up writing ever since.
As I grew up, I kept penning down my thoughts, not only in the form of poetry, but also as prose, songs, and musings, whether they’re published or not. In my good times, and not-so-good ones, I found solace in writing. My audience was limited to my friends and family, who have always supported me, appreciated my work, and helped me improvise my writing skill.
Until one day, someone told me to share my writings with the world. Just the way I was once inspired by someone’s work, perhaps my work could inspire someone else too! Hence I decided to start a blog, with little trains of my thoughts, as it is often said—
